The Pros and Cons of Val D’Isere in the Savoie Region of France

One of Europe’s most notable snowboarding resorts for luxury ski holidays, Val d’Isre sports 298 km of groomed runs. The skiing begins during November and closes in the beginning of May. The purpose built French village provides everything for you. The town stretches through the vale from La Daille until Le Fornet with the apres ski in the centre of Val Village. The cluster of pretty houses comprise smart boutiques many of which have arisen since the village was chosen for the winter olympics.

Broken into 3 different areas Val d’Isre has enough pistes for all levels of skiers. It has a good historical snow record, the town is massively popular amidst pro skiers and piste hungry intermediates, on the other hand you do not have to be especially adventurous to savor what is on offer. One can easily see how come a lot of English are pulled in to the area, with its varied nightlife and the wide variety of entertainment on offer, but the proximity of Tignes allows you to venture out to less busy climes if it all begins to get too much.

Pros

A brilliant apres ski in France. Everyone talks English. Easy approach to both Val d’Isre and Tignes known collectively as the Espace Killy ski area. There is a lot of vehicles and though there are many buses during the daytime, dedicated party animmals should head to be within a short distance of the town.

Cons

Pricy. Hectic and popular with English clientle, therefore not for those looking for a typical French ski resort to relish a calming vacation. Several ski lifts can close in windy conditions. Several challenging blue and green runs.
