Junk Hands and Mixing it up
The last thing you want to do at a table full of experienced poker players is to let your image get pigeonholed one way and never thereafter mix it up. More than the cards you hold, the image you have at the table is the most important icon for how those players will respond to your actionstherefore, making sure to keep them on your toes (i.e. that you play hands besides just the big ones that everyone plays) is the key to keeping money coming in.
One of the ways you can achieve this image is to occasionally act out of turn from the way you normally would. Try raising with a poker hand like connectors or small pairs, if you would normally just call with them, or with even worse hands, in the right spots. These kinds of plays, if brought to a point where you can induce the bluff to win (and show), or on the other hand, actually connect with a hand that beats a supposedly “made” hand, can change the entire image of your poker play for the rest of a session, reaping benefits out the eyes.
This kind of ideology is what gets players like Gus Hansen paid over and over againeveryone doubts that a junk man could ever have a hand.
